The impellers in the head move freely and the gears turn without any problem.ġ. The float in the brine tank seems completely normal. They also tend to be "sticky" in their movement. Many of the various rubber parts are apparently old as you get the black chalky residue on your hands when you handle them. The resin looks OK (golden beads, not much more to say than that), but I don't know how I can be sure its OK. Baskets look like they are in fine shape. The technician had written that the resin level was very low, but as I've read thru other posts, this level seems slightly low at worst. The tanks are about 1/2 to 2/3 full of resin. I've taken the unit apart and I've noticed a few things. Can't see spending that kind of money, but it looked like it might be a fine DIY project. They came out and said it would be upwards of $2000 to fix it. After about 12 hours, we bypassed the system and I called the local dealer. ![]() ![]() ![]() I should note that I accidentally let the salt run out (we were used to a softener that told you to add salt). It went into regenerate mode and never came out and the brine tank is higher than normal. The model 60, which is about 12 years old, seemed to be working just fine until a few days ago. ![]()
